Generally, the most common mistake people make when moving is not planning ahead. Where people suddenly decided to move and things like packing and other important work started doing hurriedly without planning and organized way. As a result, one has to face lots of stress and damage, To avoid this mistake, it’s important to start planning your move as early as possible. Create a moving checklist, research moving companies, and give yourself enough time to pack and organize. By planning ahead, you’ll be able to reduce the stress and pressure of moving day.
B) They don’t protect their valuables
While moving one should take care of essential or valuable items, otherwise surely regret it later. We all have different valuable items in our homes like :
1) Jewelry watches and other luxury items.
- Social security cards.
- Passports.
- Prescription medications and etc..
Thus all the items mentioned above and other valuables should give complete protection before moving.
C) They pack up everything — and we mean everything
Moving is the perfect time to declutter your home and perform a little “spring” cleaning. If you catch yourself wondering about the purpose of an item or document, your best bet is to throw it in the trash or feed it through a paper shredder. If you see any items that are not necessarily required to sell or donate, these two are the best options and be decisive.
D) Your boxes aren’t labeled properly
This isn’t just about indicating which boxes contain fragile items. This is about labeling all boxes so you’re not forgetting which box contains what when you arrive in your new city. A systematic packing with clear identification could help not to confuse later and be easy for movers also. It would surely help not to get damaged your fragile and vulnerable belongings.
You’ll also need to make up an inventory list as you go through the packing process to ensure that all the boxes you had pre-move have ended up with you post-move. Go room-by-room to make sure everything is in order, and be sure to clearly label any boxes containing delicate items with the word “FRAGILE.”
E) You didn’t pay for moving insurance
Many professional moving companies have insurance built into their contracts, but if not, you’ll want to get it from a third-party insurance company. Be sure to purchase a plan with enough coverage for any high-value belongings that might get lost or damaged in transit. There are other ways to save money when moving, but skipping moving insurance is not one of them.

Even if you book an off-season move, such as around the holidays or in the winter season, it’s wise to call the movers and fix the schedule, so that you won’t face problems at the last minute.
G) YOU PACK HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

These include aerosols, cleaners with bleach, nail polish remover, paint, pesticides, etc. Try not to pack these along with your belongings as it is against the law, could face penalties if packed without informing movers. You may take it with you in the car or consume it before you move.
